My mother... myself...

You know how the saying goes... "I am my mother!"...

It is strangely true for me, the older I get, the more I see myself in her, both in the mirror and in my mind and thoughts...

I am a realist, something I never knew about myself during my growing up years...

My mom was also a realist...

...but her reality was always tempered with good humor and the sure sense that God is in control of everything!... I am getting there, but on certain days, I know I'm not there yet...

My mom loved to laugh... I do too! There was never a time when life was too serious to share our laughter, even sometimes through tears...

My mom knew that God was the final answer to all of our life's needs! I do too, and this is something that He is growing in my heart daily...

The greatest thing I can imagine... in this life, is for me to be more like my mother... her life is my best example of a Godly woman!

Love this picture! Yes, there is a strong resemblance. I see a message though in your mamma's face...I see that she is very proud of you. It shows!

Truly precious photo. One Godly woman begets another! That's why I love you so - you are the image of your Godly mother - both mirroring the Christ that gave you LIFE.

Swwet! Thanks for sharing

Your heritage just amazes me!!! I am always blessed when I stop by here and always encouraged in what heritage I am leaving behind.
Thanks for sharing your heritage and inspiring me to leave a Godly heritage to my children

I want to be a Godly example for my daughter as well, although I think I rarely qualify. It's been a rough first day of school for her, very rough, but her spirits were lifted a bit with your card! I imagine your kindness might just be the kind of "grace" your mother exhibited over the years.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Wow! You can really see the resemblance!!! I hope I can be some sort of example for my daughter. But I have found I have learned so very much from them!

Beautiful photo and sharing of your heart.

My heart has always been to be an example of Christ for our daughters and now two grand daughters. I pray that the reflection they see is HIM and parts of my Grandma.

Love you dear friend. Praying for you.

Sonja, your mother was beautiful just like you are! I got home from the mountains and I want you to know I finished the book about your dad. What a blessing! I am praying more and pleading the promises of God. I love so many of his quotes. And I loved your mother's testimony too.

Much love to my sis,
Debbie

Wow! Doesn't every mother dream of hearing words like yours on this post! That truly must have been the best compliment that you could have given her. You are both beautiful women, and I appreciate that you both have been given a sense of humor. What a blessing God has given you...a mother like yours.

There's a strong connection between you and your mother. The energy is literally glowing towards the photographer.
I know you must miss her, and I know that you will pass on to your daughter and your grandchildren the values given as the greatest gift of all from your mom.

I've always heard that I'm looking like my father, and somehow that was fine with me, we loved each other dearly.
As I've grown older, both my brother and my husband say I'm resembling my mother more and more each day.
That makes me proud. That means I've adopted some of her virtues and inner values.
(And also her way of working hard and fast, but maybe not so accurate. My dad once named a giant bed of flowers, made in one day by my mother, for the bulldozer bed.)

I am blessed that I am allowed to thank my mom for everything she has meant and given to me.
Just this summer I finally got the grip of her wonderful waffles.
She, Serina and me in her kitchen. She led us step by step.
Just writing about it, makes me feel happy, like you are, sitting with your mother.

Indeed we are blessed and God has been good, granting us quality parents. A gift beyond money and worldly means of measurement.
