Bob's...

I'm having a moment!

A little background...

When you are working at weight loss, and doing what it takes to return to your former size and break the habits of years of wrong eating...

...the mind digresses...

Today... I am back in Pasadena, California at Bob's, Home of the Big Boy Burgers!

During my growing up years in Pasadena, there was NO place I would rather eat. Their burgers, fries and malts, or even a plain Coke... unless you grew up there and loved them like we did... there's no way to explain today's memory.

When we moved to Texas, it was called Kip's here, same thing, just a different name. But now there are none in Texas, and I think 2 are left in California.

Recently, an In and Out Burger place opened north of us. (Also from California) I happened to be out there with my daughter shopping nearby. There were 100's, maybe close to 1000 people waiting in long lines, and cars snaked for blocks for the drive through. One former California lady was in tears. It was unbeleivable! I couldn't imagine being one of those people...

...until I thought of Bob's!

If they open a Bob's in Texas... I WILL be in the line!

Meanwhile, back to my oatmeal for breakfast...

Final 'food' for thought...

"Oh listen, dear child—become wise; point your life in the right direction. Don't drink too much wine and get drunk; don't eat too much food and get fat." (Prov.23:19)

Oh we have just ached over the closing of Holiday House in Austin...our all time favorite burger place and also our dating place...so I totally know the longing for a good burger.

I heard about that burger place opening...haven't been yet, have to budget for gas....LOL

I will get in line to share a Bob's Burger if they come this way...for now, I am in my tennis shoes heading out the door to walk/jog...oh, it is so much work.

Isn't it like that. I only let myself have a IN And Out burger once a year. The day we drive home from Magic Mountain where I have just walked miles and miles. We do have a Bob's in Bakersfield now. It just opened back up about 6 months ago.
I just got back from my walk too. It is hard to get back isn't it.

Good heavens, Sonja - how did you know that I just ate half of a buttermilk crueller when I knew better? (In my own defense, I didn't buy it, but my husband brought it to me as a little thoughtful token. Yeesh!)

In any case, my burger-place was called "Big Al's" - and I salivate just recalling it.

Wishing you success in your "right-sizing"
efforts. Please remember me in my own "self-containment" efforts. :) Blessing to you today - Marsha

Sonja, I remember the Kips when I was younger. We also had some Big Boys here in Texas, but most of them were called Kips. Best I remember, they were Big Boys that were later called Kips. Anyway, I loved to eat there. Ooooh, that scripture got me! I like to eat...

Awww, Sonja this post made me smile. I do Mac's on occassion. Usually, I am too lazy and impatient to wait in line for a Mac, unless I time it right. Blessings to you dear one.

They were called Shoney's Big Boy in KY. Somewhere, I have a picture of me sitting on that hamburger. Oh, and the hot fudge cake is to die for! I'll wait in line with you.

Precious friend,

I enjoyed reading this and the WISDOM that is also in the Word you shared!

With the new found way that I live, eat, rest and again LIVE is one that I'm blessed to do but recently I was reminiscing over Grandpa's fried fish dinners that I would help him to do for the church. I could eat SEVERAL pieces of Whiting with collard greens, corn bread and salad. Those days behind me now....but...I remember how the line-up was from the church basement up through the lobby and outside down the steps on the Saturday's that we'd cook fried fish dinners.

Sounds similar to what you shared. O, the good ole' days :)

I love you and think of you often and PRAY for you all the more. I will include praying for you as you make these changes with the care of yourself too.

BIG HUGS sweet friend!

Dear Sonja,
This is a problem with me.
To good appetite and to little exercise.
I did manage to withhold my lusts for three days before Syttende Mai. I just had to fit in to my 40 year old bunad for the great celebration.
I'm feeling guilty. I reached my goal, but then I relaxed,--again.
I have a luxury problem, and am definitely not living according to the scripture.

The worst is, I cannot hide it, my sins are so visible..

Sonja - I used to eat at that VERY SAME Bob's all the time when I was growing up! And yes, it was delicious.

And yes, I still indulge in a double-double from time to time!

Thanks for the foodie flashback...

Keep up your good work. About a year and a half ago, I lost 35 pounds, and I've maintained it. It was SO worth all the hard work - energy-wise, health-wise - and the boost in my self-esteem wasn't too shabby either!

GOD BLESS!
