Amidst the chaos...

November is almost over, December is close behind!

I am in and out of town over the next week and a half, so I was thinking quickly of a blog to post before the chaos hit, and as I looked around my home, I see that it's too late!

There are boxes and bins all around, and somehow it takes me at least 2 or 3 days to get 'Christmas up' and the bins back into the garage until Dec.31st.

This is the view of my den today, and it's always like this when I decorate for Christmas... always!

BUT, I am more mindful with every passing year, that what really matters is not the way the house looks, or even how the food tastes, but the reminder that there is PEACE within, even when there is chaos all around!! Now that's a good thought to ponder on.

As I enter into December right alongside each one of you... the hope and peace in my heart is glowing stronger than ever. I want to be sure that JESUS is honored, in my heart and in our home... every day of December 2011, and beyond.

So... Happy end of November and start of December to each one of you!!

The same to you, Sonja. I wish you peace and joy and all things good. Your tree looks very pretty and my living room looked just like yours for a couple of days until I finished decorating too. May we all be blessed to know His sweet presence even more so throughout this wonderful season of love.
Blessings!

Thank you and the same to you. I think it even looks like a place I would love to hang out. It still looks like home and is so inviting.
Have a wonderful time while you are away.

It took me forever to get my tree decorated this year. I actually did most of it before Thanksgiving since I'm staying with grandchildren for the better part of 3 weeks, and I just didn't want to wait until Christmas Eve :)

I join your hearth & heart mission, Sonja. What a good mission it is ... through the end of 2011 and beyond.

P.S. Did I hear Buzz Lightyear chime in with an "infinity & beyond"? I always did like that guy :)

Oh you so need to drop in at my house...mine is a disaster area! I kick the boxes toward the garage in hope someone will pick them up and put them there.

Thanks for these words...God was speaking to me this morning that I am the one who sets the tone in my house during this season and I have a choice.

Have a great trip...have fun!

Dear Sonja,
Your home is so well trimmed, that even your boxes look tidy.
I like your style, but like the other ladies said, my home is my private hurricane in the early days of Advent.
This season I've decided to take Jesus with me into the decorating.
I always have a Nativity scene, it's the first thing I put up for Advent. This year three angels are reading from Luke 2 in a mini- New Testament.
This year I decided that my old Bible should have it's place in the decoration on the sofa table. The daily devotional book is placed on the kitchen table (where it always is, but not that visible).
Your dad's book, "Everything by prayer" is placed on a side table in our TV corner.
Oh yes, I want Jesus in my home for everyone to see and think.
I am inspired by the old Norwegian homes, where the Bible always was visible, and often also the only book in the house.
Now this is about me, me in a comment which should be about you, you.
Your home and beautiful fireplace send warmth and Advent atmosphere all across the sea.
Let's keep singing carols and praying while we work!

I love this post, and it speaks such a truth! I couldn't help but think of God what we probably see as chaos or a big old hot mess is totally different in the eye of the Creator. He sees the beautiful finish, I think, through the whole process.
