Chicken never tasted so good!...

It's 104 degrees and I just returned from Chick fil-a at 3 in the afternoon. The line at our local drive through was about 4 blocks long.

I don't usually eat fried chicken, but today, it tastes divine! I almost got choked up when I saw the young and the old, streaming through the doors in support of marriage the way God designed it to be. The manager said it had been this way all day and that this was actually a slow time compared to the rest of the day!

Honestly, I think it has given good decent Americans an opportunity to stand up and say... enough! Don't tell us to change God's design, we are NOT in agreement. I'm not usually a soap box preacher, but today I eat my chicken, and I believe it is with God's blessing! :)

Oh I was going to email you...we went for breakfast...got in line for lunch and plan to eat at dinner.

I have been so blessed...families standing inside and parked around the building....even in this heat! There was still lines around the building at 2:30!!

I was able to show my children how to stand up in a peaceful manner...nothing negative, just buy chicken and tell the works thanks and hang in there The manager was grinning from ear to ear.

We will go back tonight...visiting three different sites in one day!!!!!!!

Oh the lines are just as long here in California. I was at the hospital with my mom so I couldn't go for lunch, and my hubby got in one but after an hour had to get back out as he was afraid he'd miss his meeting, haha...What a blessing it is to see soo many show their support. I LOVE it! We will go together at dinner...keep each other company in the line, haha

Amen! I wish that there were a Chick-Fil-A within a hundred miles. It warms my heart, it truly does. Bless you for waiting all that time for some chicken and in all that heat!

Dear Sonja,
I actually had to go to google to find out what Chick fil-a was.
Surely an interesting way of both making a public stand and exercising one's democratic rights.

I must say I find it troublesome to act judgemental when it comes to homosexuality.
I know a few homosexuals and as persons I do not find it right neither to condemn nor turn my back at them.I simply feel I'm not the right to pass judges.
Like you I find it controversial with the many almost aggressive marketing of homosexual lifestyle both in arts, civil rights and religion.
So I might just have had that chicken meal just to say enough is enough.
If there were actions like this to reintroduce prayer and hymn singing in schools and kindergartens I would no doubt have eaten chicken meals for a week.
I so fear a society where Christian values are being removed one by one. Things are changing so rapidly.
How can the growing generations know about God and salvation when they aren't taught?
My heart is aching, and I feel guilt for being so passive. I should have stood on my soap box all week. At least I
gotta make a note in my prayer journal.

We celebrated the end of No Buy July with a breakfast at our favorite fast food joint. (And get the chargrilled next time... it's delicious and so healthy too!)

We ended the day with another long, long wait for a peach shake. Worth it.

In the interim, the rest of the family "ATE MOR CHIKIN'" from Atlanta to D.C. and sent pictures to prove it.

It's amazing how clueless those in the media really are about what Dan Cathy said and to whom and heart of the man (men) behind the words. The Cathys modeled Luke 6:27-38 beautifully this past week.

Sonja -
We do not have a Chick-Fil-A but if we did I would BE THERE!

I also love the fact that they close their stores on Sunday.

What a fine way to run a business, and God bless 'em.

Being a vegetarian, I didn't eat the chicken, but I did have a wonderful peach shake, and it did my heart good to see so many people supporting Chick-Fil-A. It saddens me that people have misunderstood what this entire thing was about. It wasn't an anti-gay rally. It wasn't a rally to pass judgment. It was an effort by the Christian community to stand up and say 'enough'. If people would take the time to read exactly what Mr. Cathey (sp?) said, they would realize he merely expressed that he supports what God has ordained. He supports the family unit as God ordained it. He did not bash homosexuals. He did not say he wasn't going to hire them or serve them. The God-ordained family unit is as much a part of his Christian faith as closing the doors on Sunday. We have Constitutional rights to express those views and to have those views. And actually, it isn't a 'view'…it's God's Word. And as Christians, we are required to do our best to obey and stand on God's Word. Those of opposing views cry that we're being 'judgmental'…that we hate people… To me, that sounds judgmental in itself, for it is the true meaning of being judgmental…to pretend you know another's heart. Speaking God's Word and standing on it and believing in it is neither being judgmental or hating that person. It would probably surprise many people to know how many Christian people have friends who are gay, friends they love dearly. I know someone I love dearly who has slept with and continues to sleep with many women. I don't hate him because he commits this sin. But I can't say that the sin isn't a sin…because God's Word says it IS. We have people screaming 'tolerance' at us, which we all know is a codeword for 'accept'. The only thing we can accept is one's right to choose to obey God or not, but we cannot accept the behavior as being OK simply because there are those who deem it politically incorrect to think otherwise. God's Word says otherwise, and it is to our God we all must answer to. And those who scream for 'tolerance' seem to not offer it themselves. They can't tolerate that we believe what God's Word says about it. God's Word sheds light on darkness, and people don't like for the darkness to be illuminated.

Yes, I went to Chick-Fil-A today…but not out of hatred for someone, but out of love for my Heavenly Father and love for a fellow Christian who dared to stand on God's principles…merely by saying that those were his values.

If there are those who do not agree with those values, they have the freedom to eat chicken some place else. I dare say if they had walked into Chick-Fil-A today, they would have been served as graciously as the hundreds upon hundreds of others who were being served.

One person stood outside the restaurant in protest of them, but I never saw anyone treat her rudely, for which I was thankful. God gave her the freedom to choose whether to obey His Word or not. We all have that choice.

We are living in a time when we have to stand up for our faith because there is a war against that very right!

Hatred by Christians? Not anything I saw today, but I've certainly seen it exhibited on the other side. Friday, they even plan an in-your-face nose-thumbing campaign, I hear. Quite the contrast to what I saw today. People smiling. People courteous to one another. Employees overwhelmed but serving any and all courteously and with a smile.

Love you, Sonja!

I was in line in spirit .. as we don't have a Chick-Fil-A nearby. So tonight I will turn on the news (11:00) and see if they have the strength to show the numbers of people that stood in line today .. for a chicken sandwich .. oh and so much more .. to put on a solid front and to draw a line in the sand.

Way to go, mom! Here in Temple, TX, the 2 Chick- fil-A's were as packed as you described, and our lunch and dinner were excellent both for the stomach and the soul!

I did not have the chance to go to one of our local Chick-fil-As today. I was on "daddy duty" all afternoon, and I promised my son we could go swimming. However, I have heard that supporters of same-sex marriage plan their own demonstrations. If so, I look forward to patronizing Chick-fil-A on that day.

Some encouraging articles that I read indicate that at least some who went to Chick-fil-A today were supporters of same-sex marriage, but were angered by the attacks on free speech and religious freedom by the mayors of Chicago, San Francisco, and Boston. I appreciate those willing to stand up to bullying by greedy, power-hungry leaders.

We tried to get into our Chick-fil-A and couldn't wait because the lines were so very long. We had a great response in our city but sad to say today the opposing citizens are having a gay "kiss-in" in protest. Sad.

I have to say that I agree with Shirley's comment. I think many people took this out of context. I believe in marriage between one man and one woman too. And I think many people are so tired of Hollywood trying to create a new normal which it's not. Sin is sin. Hate the sin but love the sinner. I just hate to see this get ugly with hate and hope that doesn't happen.

Love you,
Debbie

You go girl! If we had Chick-fil-a I'd be doing exactly the same thing!

I can't believe all the nonsense the media had stirred over this one. Politicians & entertainers have piled on (and who do they think they are, anyway?).

Thank God there are believers who are willing to put their chicken where their mouth is :)

Woohoo!
