Master bath...

If I could only describe what a job this has been! I began tearing down the dark green wallpaper BEFORE Christmas!! I was sure that I also needed to remove the paper that was left on the walls from behind the wallpaper, (the glue part that backed the original paper) since it was 20 years old and not sure if they could paint over it.

I have been on that ladder 100 times. It sure looks easy when other people take on remodeling projects! Painting is easy, but not removing wallpaper! But now it's done, and I conceded to having the painter come in and texture the walls and then paint. My goal was something light and airy, spa-like. There are lots of windows, so the light will be pouring in and the walls are so much lighter.

Since he was already here, we had him do the downstairs guest bath too. Costco rugs and towels, and it is finished!! My husband, who always 'likes things just like they are'... may love it even more than I do. He fights change, but when it's done, he is always the biggest fan!

The painter and several of his helpers came and tore down the wallpaper in the small bath downstairs. It took them about 45 minutes!! Things just come together when you know what you're doing!

It was hard to get a good picture, since all the light was in front of me, but it is very light and airy now.

I still think of our house as our 'new house', and it's over 20 years old! Now we are replacing things... BIG things... COSTLY things, just because the years take their toll. So my plan was to do this on a small budget, I did... kind of.

Now for the bedroom...

What a difference Sonja! I have decided that having been a previous wall paper junkie and after having to take it all down to paint, I will never wallpaper again. It amazes me that when you start redoing one area, before you know it you continue on with another. Love your bathroom.

Oh how I love a remodeling project! Both my own and watching others, lol. Taking down old wallpaper is SUCH a chore though. I have done it a few times. YAY on being done! The bathroom looks great! Anxious to see the completed look in the other. Enjoy your day!

I love remodeling too and your bath looks just beautiful. After having nearly our entire house in wallpaper we finally grew tired of it and took it all down except for the downstairs family room. What a job!

It looks beautiful! You certainly achieved the goal of its being spa like.

Lovely, lovely and I'm with you, I'll never have wall paper again. I do have some now but it is all faux finishes and looks just like paint.

Happy weekend!

It looks so beautiful! My husband would rather work extra and hire a pro than have to do some repair jobs himself.

It looks lovely Sonja! I love the idea of open, airy and spa like. It is so much easier when you can get the services of a professional who knows what they are doing. Greg and I took forever to paint this condo inside but a little paint always makes things look better.

Love you,
Debbie

it's lovely. remodeling is such a big job.
we added on a master bedroom suite in
our old house. spent one night, then i
caught the house on fire.

lesson: never remodel . . . or never leave
a cheap pot unattended on the stove.

I like the arches and the way you created a beautiful, airy look. I like the colors you chose and the spa like décor.

We love to remodel but you are right it looks a lot easier when I am looking at what other people have done. I have one room left with wallpaper and I am itching to start peeling but hubby not ready for another project just yet. Your bathroom improvement looks great

Ah, the joys (travails) of remodeling!! Been there, still doing that. Looks like this bathroom is going to be spectacular, though. A relaxing and restorative retreat!

Budgets, smudgets.

Can't wait to see the photos of the new bedroom project!

GOD BLESS!

(Ever notice how hard it is to do some *spiritual* remodeling too???)
