Thanks again to Amy at Signs, Miracles and Wonders for this Saturday blessing!
Okay, now we are going WAY back in time...
I grew up in a preacher's home, not one of the mega preachers or big church preachers, but one of those rare ones that lived by faith. We had some times that I am certain tested their faith, but always, ALWAYS God proved faithful...
My parents were friends with Stuart & Suzy Hamblen for many years. I remember getting a huge box of 'hand me down' clothes from their daughters who were a little older than my sister and I. I couldn't find a single thing to wear in the whole box. I'm sure in looking back, that they were designer clothes.... NOT what we were used to. I was reminded of that story as I remembered this song written by Stuart Hamblen. I remember him as having a big heart, and finding God in a new and deeper way as he grew older. This song will always stir memories of them....

From the humblest among us comes the powerful work of God's spirit. The least are truly the greatest!
How wonderful that you have such warm memories of your youth, and such respect for the pastor that was also your daddy.
Blessings,
Kathleen
I was singing right along with this one! I so remember this song. I used to sing it as a little girl too. Your parents must have been wonderful examples for you to learn to live a life of faith.
Hand me down clothes! I remember receiving boxes of clothes from others when I was a child as we didn't have much money. My mom usually made all of my clothes using patterns and material that was on sale. I totally forgot about that until you shared about your memories.
So, thank you for sharing and you posted your video perfectly! :)
Hugs and love to you,
Debbie
Oh, thank you for sharing this old song! I used to love singing it in choir when I was a teen.
It's still awesome! So powerful! And I know the Hamblens must have been such wonderful people! How blessed you are to have known them.
Blessings and Love in Jesus,
Andrea
P.S. My husband is enjoying your father's book. Jeff is so impressed with his knowledge and love for God!
