Christmas... at church & at Chili's...

On Sunday night, some of our grandkids had their Christmas program at church. It was beautiful, the songs, the talking parts, all of it! Children and church Christmas music always make me smile!

Later, we all went to Chili's. I loved what Tommy, our son, did so naturally. When the waiter had taken our order, Tommy said, 'we're about to pray for our food, is there anything we can pray about for you, anything going on in your life right now, etc...'The waiter said, 'yes, I'm trying to get into the Navy'... so we blessed the food and included a prayer for this nice young guy.
For Tommy, this was a natural and easy way to share. He has one of those personal-ities that knows no strangers and makes people feel special!!
Not everyone would feel as easy and comfortable doing that (including me) ...BUT, everyone has their own ability, God given, to share a word of encouragement. Many times those very words lead into further conversation and an opportunity to share our faith in God.

The top 2 pictures include 2 of our grandkids, Cassidy & Avery. Bottom photo is Tommy and his wife Dedra.

Sonja,
You must be so proud of your son. What a wonderful man he must be. God must surely smile at such a thing. Blessings to you always. p.s. In my "interview" (it is posted on my blog) You are one of the people I am thinking of , when I say I feel I have met some bloggers in person. I feel that way about you. I feel blessed to know you... even though it is through a box. Blessings and hugs!
love,
Gwen

Sonja,
What a beautiful family you have! Tommy sounds like such a man of God. And btw, he looks Norwegian. :)

I'm so glad we've connected through our blogs. I wish you lived closer so we could visit in person.

Hugs and love,
Debbie

Hi Sonja,

Thanks for joining my blog...I'm returning the favor.

I love what you said here, about not everyone having the same gift as your son, to be a natural at sharing Jesus. Some people are scared to death of strangers. That's my background, but by the grace of God I am changing continually, and learning to love the people HE loves.

I have a feeling you and I will be kindred spirits....

Love,
Debby

What a wonderful idea about asking the waiter if we can pray for him or her! I'll remember that next time we're at a restaurant.

The photos are lovely and I am sure you were blessed by the Christmas program.
Have a blessed evening.

It's SO good to connect! I DID pop in and out earlier today and thought to myself, "Anyone who raises a son like Tom must be a wonderful, wonderful woman." Now that I know a little bit more of your heart, I am sure of it! Looking forward to more exchanges as we encourage each other to be mature women, sold out to God's purposes in all the years that lie before us.

Sonja, you caught me off guard when telling what your son Tom did at the restaurant. My eyes immediately filled with the holy tears! He sounds much like my son, Andy. I love this idea of asking the waiter/waitress if there is something we could pray about. I can only imagine how touched I would be if I were the one serving, and someone asked that of me. I am truly looking for ways to be more genuine in living out God's grace in me. Thanks so much for sharing this!
