How big is your bank account??...

Have you seen this one?

"Imagine that you had won the following prize in a contest:

Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400.00 in your private account for your use.

However, this prize has rules, just as any game has certain rules.

The first set of rules would be:

Everything that you didn't spend during each day

would be taken away from you.
You can not simply transfer money into some other account.
You can only spend it.

Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400.00 for that day.

The second set of rules:The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say, it’s over, the game is over!

It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.

What would you personally do?

ACTUALLY This GAME is REALITY!

Each of us is in possession of such a bank. We just can't seem to see it.

The BANK is TIME!

Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life, and when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is NOT credited to us.

What we haven't lived up to that day is forever lost.
Yesterday is forever gone.

Each morning the account is refilled, but GOD can dissolve your account at any time....WITHOUT WARNING.

SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds?

Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars.

... time races by so much quicker than you think. Start spending. Your life is a deposit from GOD!"

" So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom."
(Ps.90:12 NKJV)

I have often pondered this thought. I now see how fast time is racing by and I know that there are years I have simply squandered my time. I thank you so much for reminding me today of this and I really enjoyed this post and I am going to have my kids read it during school. Thanks!

I think about time a lot, especially lately
as it seems to be passing by so much faster.
This isn't true of course; we still have
twenty-four hours in a day. But I think
about how much time that was wasted not
seeking to know the Lord. I can never get
those years back. I just thank God for
His mercy and grace today and try to live
each moment in His presence doing His will.

I try to be thankful for each day. It really bothers me to hear people wishing for the day or week to be over. Seems like most don't enjoy their lives anymore. Always wanting the weekend to have good times.

Well I think I am listening...my devotional from John Piper was "The Terror that is Named the Flight of Time" and last night our precious daughter-in-law miscarried...and we talked about how precious that life was, even if just for a moment in time.
So you once again confirmed what I am to hear today...now I need to go and not waste this precious day...and stopping here wasn't a waste of time!

This post was soo good. I hadn't thought about it just that way before. But it is a really good prospective. Time just keeps going faster and faster, and I really do want to make it count anymore. When I was young it was more about hurry this or hurry that...not anymore. I am glad you wrote this. Have a wonder 86,400 seconds today!

When we are little, we do not think about time like we do when we are older. As the years pass, we realize more and more how that time seems to fly by. I certainly don't want to squander the time I have left, so thanks for the reminder. Your posts are always so thought provoking!

Wow, you really got me thinking! (A dangerous thing to do).

If this thought would just stick in my brain like gum, I would have a much more productive life..

Wow Sonja, this is a dose of reality. No regrets, just move forward and appreciate each moment, especially those times with our loved ones. Thanks,

Oh, Sonja,
you have the gift of pin pointing a theme.
I don't have anything to brag about. To much time spent in front of the TV or worse, criticizing my neighbor.
I spend my best moments praying, and reading your father's book really have inspired me doing what I consider to be my "thing".
Two weeks ago I went to a meeting, because it had praying for our town as a theme.
I suddenly became aware, I had been eager criticizing politicians, but hardly had been praying for a change to the common better.
I kind of felt the preacher's words sounded familiar. Imagine my surprise when I came home and accidentally looked at the back cover of your father's book. Hakon Fagervik, the preacher from the meeting was the first man to recommend your father's book in Norwegian.

There is no such thing a coincidences in God's kingdom.

I have just been "home", visiting my mother. She agreed that your mother and she might have been sisters.
Thanks for sending the photo.
It meant a lot both to my mother and me.

Very smart Sonja. Time is a precious comodity. Btw, I had such a wonderful time with Sassy today. We simply grabbed our cup of coffee, sat in the park with the ducks and geese and ...spent time together. I wish you were closer sis. We would have welcomed you with open arms.

Love you,
Debbie

What a nice post...

But sadly, only the wise would heed your advice.
I wish I would be one of those wise children of God. Thanks for sharing your thoughts:)

That really is a profound thought. I confess I was already thinking of ways to spend the real cash though before I read the end! lol!

what a clever way to get our attention. time, indeed,
is more valuable than money. i find i spend it well
earlier in the day and start blowing it as i tire out.

i probably should spend some of it on a nap!

have a wonderful weekend!

What a really great post! I am shaken by the reality of "spending" time. How much I've wasted. How thankful I am the Lord has forgiven me for that. The Lord has dealt with me on this very thing over this past year. I have prioritized my life and find I am spending more time with my family and less time getting involved in personal endeavors. Seeking the Lord and getting closer to Him is my greatest priority.

Thanks for the post and God bless, Dr. Bobbi

Sonja,

My thoughts quickly shifted to reality when you revealed it was time, not money you were speaking of. This is a great eye opener for me to re-evaluate how much time I spend with the Lord on a daily basis.

God bless you,
Michele Katherine

Amen Sonja! Peter and I often speak about the blessing of the time the LORD has given to us and if we are making good use of it. Often I hear myself say, "where did the time go?" then I evaluate "what did I do with the time that has lapsed...was it worth it?"

I want to live the moments GOD has given me with the awareness of how precious those moments are because once the time has passed...it has passed.

I'm glad I spent a few moments right now with you dear friend. Love you much.
