What does your hair say about you??...

If my daughter is reading this, she is already laughing.

I don't change hairstyles.

Years ago it was a shorter 'bubble', now it's a longer style, not a bubble, but not what a modern hair stylist would endorse either. What it really is NOT, is this picture I've posted from Pinterest. That hair exists only in my dreams.

I don't have that swingy casual beautiful blonde hair that I always dreamed about. I still stop in my tracks when I see it on someone else. I love shiny, thick, swingy blonde hair (or any color that does all that, blonde just happens to be what I was born with).

No, my hair has NO style, UNLESS I get it right when I comb or brush it out, and then cover the whole thing with a strong protective 'helmet' of hairspray to make sure it doesn't move.

I'm sure those ladies with the swingy hair do NOT use hair spray! If they did, their hair just would not swing like it does when they shake their heads!

The truth is, without hair spray... I don't have a hairdo! It falls and it goes flat and just lays there. I am not a good straight haired person. I wish I were. I use those huge Wal Mart rollers, pink and green ones, and my hubby has faithfully endured that all these years.

In California where I grew up, it was better... the climate was dry. In Texas, no way on earth can I leave the house without my shield of spray. Now, here is an interesting thing. I have gotten comments in the store about how pretty my hair is... WHEN I have sprayed it thoroughly INTO that style. When I HAVEN'T... I get looks of sympathy and maybe even horror!

Moral of this story... the picture you see on my sidebar is not likely to ever look very different. Hairspray saves the day! As to the blond color... another blog entirely!

One more thing... my daughter has stick straight long hair, and it swings! Go figure.

Your hair is really beautiful, Sonja and
whether you spray it or not doesn't really
matter. It's so gorgeous and looks very
thick and healthy. I saw that picture of
the girl above somewhere recently and
she is a hairdresser and admitted to
having to use a lot of product on her
hair to get it that way. Just sayin'.
Your crowning glory shines!

Oh laughing....you are beautiful and just don't know it!!....hair and all!

Oh my daughter and I go round and round as I want her hair and she wants mine. As for up-to-date hairdo...well you saw it on my blog, and my fear of salons. That is on the good days but most days, like today, it is up in a clip out of my way! So much for looking like any of those 1000's Pinterst hair styles I have pinned.

But when we get to Heaven everything will be perfect...you think that includes our hair?

Oh I enjoyed this, haha...I am FOREVER trying to create that "look" but the only time it is even a tiny bit close to it is the day I leave the beauty parlor...I LOVE the way yours look there on your side bar...it is GORGEOUS in my opinion...thick, wavy, and I really like the color. So if that is the way you always look, then you are looking good girl. Have a wonderful day!

I am one who has changed hairstyles many times, but one thing I have learned that no matter the climate hairsprays just do not work on my hair no matter how much or what kind I spray on my do. Too funny, I know--they just seem to disappear.
My daughter is blessed with the long beautiful hair and not to mention long eyelashes(that's another subject for another day).
Thank you for the smile :)

Dear Sonja,
You're looking swell.
Really, I've always been impressed by those thick curls made to blow in the wind.
Your shiny eyes and that beautiful smile, wait.., now I remember who your genetic mate is, she used to play in Charlie's angels in my youth;Farrah Fawcett.
She used to be the leader of the "holy" trio.
I can feel the charisma all the way over the Atlantic.
You'd better find something else to worry about.
What a nice thing to wear a helmet, like Paul said in the Ephesians,"the helmet of salvation."

We are more than sisters in the Lord, same hair, too. My daughters also have the shiny straight hair that swings when they talk. They'll be talking to you and before you know it, it's up in a ponytail and then hours later loosely falls down. They don't get it from me. Hair spray is a staple in my budget; gotta have it!

Sonja,
No one ever believes that I have naturally very Fuzzy, frizzy bozo the clown type of hair, that is until they see it, and then they are speechless :o) . I have to do a lot to get my hair straight, or have normal curls, but thats life :o)

About you: Where is the before and after pictures?? :o) just kidding.
You have awesome hair, and a pretty face to go with it. Oh, and the most important all the inner beauty you possess.

Blessings to you, hugs
Michele

My daughter has long straight swingy hair too! Hers is brunette, though.

I used to have a lovely head of long, straight, SWINGY blonde hair. Then, I cut it in college, and I haven't been a swinger since. These days, I have to spray it to keep any remote style in it. Tres Semme... maximum hold.

And if it's a particularly humid Georgia day... combined with my hormones... it still falls flat.

Sigh. I would love to have your hair. I think it's gorgeous.

I had the long auburn brown straight look going on in my teens, now I have the really short Miss Clariol red going on! LOL! Believe it or not I can remember ironing my already straight hair in the late sixties! What we women won't do...lol

Your hair is beautiful... and as someone has already pointed out, it matches your inner beauty as well!

Teeeheee....talk about hair....I WAS BORN WITH A MOP OF BLACK HAIR that my mother detested. She would literally hit my head with the brush when she was trying to comb it when I was a child! She had hair like YOURS...GORGEOUS WAVES and curls. Me, I have a HORSE'S MANE! YES! My maiden name is Spanish: PELAYO. In French, it is PELAGE, meaning, HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( or rather FUR, like on an animal!!!! ) GO FIGURE THAT ONE!!!

I think your hair looks fabulous! What I would give for that now. My hair's been falling out lately. My dog's hair was falling out too. The vet said it was some sort of disease. But a few weeks I bought an expensive vitamin for him, and lo and behold - his hair's growing back! I am very tempted to take his vitamins for myself. VERY tempted...

I have always had short hair, hasn't been long and swingy since my teens. Mine is fine and thin and I try to spray it into submission but I am not too successful, always ends up flat.
I think you have great hair, no matter what you have to do to get it :)

I "envy" the body & curl in your hair! (Not the hairspray, however.) Years ago I always thought I needed a perm in my fine hair. Of course, as perms grow out, there's an awkward stage until the next one. Finally, I found a style that works for my straight & fine hair. No more perms for me. I'm a simple gal (and lazy?) and am thankful for the wash-and-wear style I've worn for what now seems like "forever"...

I'm laughing because I can so relate to this post. My hair is naturaly curly and really wavy and the more white it gets, the more wonky it becomes. I have to beat it into submission with a flat iron and various styling products. I sometimes let it go natural but it tends to look a little to wild for me. That's also a reason I don't wear it any shorter. The shorter, the more curly.

I always wanted the straighter, swingy hair like you describe!

I'm not very adventurous in the style department myself. Well, that's not exactly true: I have my OWN style. I like what I like, and I don't like what I don't :)

My hairdresser always laughs when I say: "No change, but please remember I like it 'bouffy' (pointing to crown of my head) right here." My picture is next to that word in the dictionary.
