The journey...

I spent a few minutes today clicking back on some of the old blogs I have written over the past 3 years.

You know what I saw??

I saw the words that God had given me, time after time. New thoughts, new leading, new sense of Him as I've walked these days. I started blogging almost 3 years ago, and never thought it would turn into a long term sharing and fellowship in the way that it has. I am so blessed to share, and to read what you share, every day.

There were some of them I had long since forgotten, some that I should NOT have forgotten, some that were fresh again as I re-read them.

The other thing I saw was a message of encouragement, and the message was never mine. It was what God spoke to my own heart, which is always the clearest of all, when God first gives it to us, and we pass it along.

I am encouraged as I go back and read some of those blogs. Have you ever done that with your own writing?

It has become a picture of a journey... mine.

That may not sound like a big deal, but it is. Take a look at your own pages and see where you were 3 years ago, or even 2. What we wrote then was from our hearts, and it's worthy of another look... a reminder of God's faithfulness and leading .

It's a picture of the paths I've walked, and it's a prompting for the steps ahead.

And He continues to walk with me and to talk with me and to tell me I am His own...

I did that Sonja, but what I found was that I was doing my blog more in my own strength and for man's approval more than for God's. It really got to me.
I don't know what changed, maybe it was me, maybe it was my audience, but it made me sad about myself.
I am so glad you saw the wonderful fruit I see every time.

What great advice Sonja! I started blogging in 2007. I'm sure I'll learn much from going back to see what I was writing about back then.

I'm so glad you began blogging. If you hadn't, I wouldn't have gotten to know and love you. Please keep on blogging sister.

Love you,
Debbie

It's always good to go back and see where the Lord has brought me. His hand has been on my blog since the beginning. I strive to bring Him glory!

Yes, this blogging is a good thing for an aging mind and I'm not talking about yours! I am speaking for myself. I hwas so pleased recently to read an interview I had done with my grandmother that was so sweet and precious and blessed me so much. And, yes, I see the Lord leading all the way, even when I had no clue what was going to happen or how we'd make it through. We can certainly trust Him!

feel interested enought to read my

everything slows down.

yours has been a continual source of
encouragement and friendship. i
don't know what i would do without

On occasion, I have done this very thing. And I have also been blessed by words, though they were "mine", that came from Someone else - and they spoke new encouragement to my heart.

I love how God never wastes His words - whether they come from my fingertips or not. And HIS words continue to speak - I'm just privileged that He sometimes uses me to speak!

GOD BLESS!

(p.s. Sorry that I've been MIA in Blog Land lately. Packing and moving after 28 years in the same house has been TIME-CONSUMING!!)

Yes, Yes, Yes...I see the same thing...I see God walking me through things as I posted through my blog, I see His hand...I am encouraged at times again when I go back and read...yes and amen! And yes, who knew?...well He did, that is why He called some of us to blog, He knew what He would do through it

Thanks for sharing...I so agree

Sonja,
Good for you, for reviewing your own journey and seeing how God has used you to encourage others.

I have truly enjoyed your posts once I "met" you. Three years - my goodness, where does the time go?

Blessings to you today - Marsha

I frequently look back, Sonja. Truly, a living witness to the grace and faithfulness of God! I also print out every post and have collected them in large 3 ring binders. I want kids to have a record of where I've been with God in these last few years. It's enough of a reason to keep going...

Living faith! The never-ending, near, and flawless work of God in our pilgrimages.

So glad we our stories with one another.

I think that would be a fun thing to do, and I think you're right that it would show the journey.

Sometimes when I find a new blog or am visiting an old one, I will go to their archives to their very first post. It generally gives a really good glimpse into their personality and makes me like them all the more.

It's fun to see what we wrote when we weren't sure whether it would be the only thing we ever blogged.

Wouldn't it be a fun linky party to have folks repost their very first post to share?

I LOVE how you have followed Romans 12:3 as you looked back over your archives. "Sober judgement" is the way some translations say it - but I especially like the Aramaic Bible in Plain English ,.."I say to all of you by the grace that is given to me, that you should not have self-esteem beyond what is necessary to have self-esteem, but you should have self-esteem and modesty as God distributes faith to every person by a measure."

The encouragement you have received from the Lord/His Word spills over on to ALL of us!

Every year I actually have my blog posts printed off by "Blog-to-Print" in a bound form. That way I can thumb through them & recall, reflect & rejoice. It is, as you say, such a personal journey.

Like you, I had no idea how meaningful the process would be. And to think I often think of giving it up altogether.

I am most thankful this afternoon, that God has given me the great privilege of meeting you via blogland, and that God continues to use you to encourage and strengthen my own journey. You are a beautiful example to me of the ripe fruit that God uses in the lives of others. Keep writing and I will keep visiting. His promises are real and vital to my everyday life. Thank you Sonja!

Yes! Taking a little trip through old posts can be so enlightening! Words He has given us. Words of encouragement. It's so good to be reminded again.
