A word from Proverbs... winking at sin...

"Winking at sin leads to sorrow; bold reproof leads to peace." (Prov.10:10)

When we 'wink' at sin, or somehow think we are just barely doing something wrong... so slight that 'maybe it won't count'... we can 'be sure our sins will find us out'...

God doesn't want us to 'kind of' sin, He wants our obedience in all of the areas that tempt us. Actually, 'barely sinning' is still sin!

It will never fail... when we 'dabble' in sin... it will ALWAYS lead to sadness and defeat. Our hearts always know.. God knows that it drives a wedge between our heart and His, and we know it too...

He has created us with a mind and heart that knows right from wrong! Sin is not something to fool around with, at ANY level. God hates it and His Word is loaded with the DO NOT do it verses! He knows it is always wrong for us.

What I really love about this verse is the second part... 'bold reproof leads to peace'.... Isn't that the truth! There have been times when I'm tempted to do a little less than I know is complete obedience, and when He reminds me, and I obey... I am choosing bold reproof of sin. I am deciding and choosing to NOT sin.

Do we ever feel wrong when we make that choice?? NEVER!! It's the way to His peace, of mind and heart. He made us, and He knows what is the best for us! And when it comes to sin... bold reproof is ALWAYS the right choice!

Your words are so true Sonja!

I know there have been times when I've tried to justify my sin. But then there's the Holy Spirit who convicts me and I know that I know.

Although I know that nothing can separate me from the love of Christ, when I sin it interupts that intimacy. How thankful I am that He is so patient with me. And without His grace and mercy I would be lost.

I'm reading "Everything by Prayer" and loving it. What a wise father you had Sonja. I can't wait to meet him in heaven.

Blessings and much love sis,
Debbie

Dear Sonja,
Of course I am guilty of winking at sin.
I guess my worst sin is my "Holy Anger".
That I somehow feel I have the right to condemn, even though the scripture says, I have not.

Sometimes I think, this is hopeless, I'm 60 years of age, and still I am repeating these old and wrong ways of action.

Then, again, I think with Paul,"when I am weak, then I am strong."
Even though I wish I had grown, and could pass a Christian second grade exam, I still find me crawling around in Kindergarten.
I don't like it a bit.
I think God needs to keep me on bended knees.
I'm just the type to act self righteous and arrogant, if He hadn't showed me how I really am.

Harsh. I know his banner over me is love, and his promise is, " Never will I leave nor forsake thee."
That's also why I know, even when I'm guilty of winking to sin, he'll forgive me and call me his child.

P.S: I don't know how or when you leave for Norway. I live 3 hours car ride from Bergen. It would be a thrill to meet you, also in the flesh.
Love Felisol

Good words today! I've already gone a battle with 'little' sin this morning... my flesh gritting its teeth TO DO and my spirit reaching out saying DON'T. It hasn't been a fun morning!
