Welcome to Heaven!...

Yesterday, my Aunt (Tante) Maren, arrived peacefully in heaven, from her home in Tromso, Norway.

I just know that there was a crowd there to welcome her, right along side of jesus.

My mother would have been one of the first in line! (Maren was her younger sister.)

To me, Tante Maren was almost like a living hero, having survived concentration camp as a young woman. Her joy of life and those rosy pink cheeks just drew us all to her immediately.

I am so glad that we were able to be with her in Norway last summer when my neice was married. It was a treasure for each one of us. Here is that story, and here.

The other story I wrote about her was from her time spent in concentration camp, here.

I told my cousin in Norway that I can just picture my mother and Tante Maren today, and in my mind, they are both young Norwegian girls again... laughing and talking together... in a part of heaven that looks just like Tromso...

What a wonderful story of your Tante. I know that God was so delighted to see her face to face as was your Mom. I read her story you had written. Will you get to have the book made out of toilet paper with the recipes? Corrie Ten Boom came and spoke here when I was a teenager. I got to hear her say that phrase you have on today's post. So when I read it I could hear her voice in my head.
Thanks for sharing and as Paul says we do not sorrow as others do. Thank you for sharing and blessings to you. I am sorry for your loss.

How wonderful to have a hero of the faith in your own family. I just read the story of the Concentration Camp and the recipes. Your aunt was an amazing woman who also knew like Corrie ten Boom that "the worst can happen; the best remains." Thank you for sharing her going home with us. (I like, too, that you write that she is in a part of heaven that looks like her home. I'm smiling thinking of my mother being in a part of heaven that looks like a place very dear to her heart.)

Oh Sonja!! I just went back and read about the wedding and then about the concentration camp. I am almost speechless. You have such a treasure in having known and loved her here on earth.

I hope the family will always keep that toilet paper cookbook. Unbelievable spirit.

I praise God LOUDLY that she is rejoicing at this very moment at his throne. What a wonderful story

I am sorry for your loss but rejoicing for your Tante as even now she makes her wonderful new home in heaven. What a celebration I am sure that is! I don't have time now, but I will DEFINITELY be back later to read the other posts as I just know they will be inspiring. Have a wonderful day! HUGS

Dear Sonja, I have visited all three blog posts you have written about your aunt Maren, and she sure was one in a million. How wonderful that you were allowed to meet her in Tromsø last summer.
She sounds like a courageous and wise woman with a lot of humor too, who was very much present and alive even in her old age.
What a reward after all the trials she was through during the war.(In Norway there's only one war referred to as the war, WW2).

I wish many more would be aware that God has much good in store for us, even here on earth, after we have come through the trials we're bound to meet.
I'm sure there's a great feast in heaven celebrating the arrival of tante Maren.
God bless her memory.

Hi Sonja,

I am sorry for your loss, I can see how special she was to you (and still is), and I'm sure you were also to her. I think that is so awesome how you are thinking about your mom and her in heaven together with our beautiful savior. I'm going to read those former post you have noted.

God bless you and your family,
Michele

Sonja, I remember reading about your aunt and her time in the concentration camp, about the little book that she treasures that they gave her for her birthday. She had a far more important date than her birthday yesterday, didn't she? I know it made your mom happy to see her once again. But I also know that it makes you sad to know she is gone from this life. I also know that you are so thankful that you were able to visit with her this past year. May God comfort you at this sad yet joyful time.

Dear Sonja, our hearts go out to you and your family. We know that our Lord will comfort you, as you celebrate the life that He allowed your dear Aunt to live, for His glory.
And one day, maybe even soon, we shall all meet on that beautiful shore.
It's "goodnight here, but good morning over there."
Big hugs!

Oh, such precious rosy cheeks!

What a party those girls are having in Heaven! And can you even imagine how happy the Lord is to see them united again in His presence?! I know that this must have been such a sad/happy moment in your life. I put my arm around you for the tears - but for the homecoming? I'll join you in a heavenly HALLELUJAH!

GOD BLESS!
