I'm so glad I have a 'big brother'...

This is the week of my brother's birthday! This is my brother and I when we were kids...

He lives in California. I live in Texas and my sister lives in Oregon!

He is the one who chased me with a garden snake in Tacoma, Washington one summer, hit me with pillows a million times when he babysat with my sister and I, teased me about my first boyfriend, without mercy!... and was always there for us... mostly to tease us and make sure our lives were at least a little bit miserable!!

But that was before we all grew up... it's amazing how all the childhood stuff turns into something we all cherish...This picture is the 3 of us more than a few years ago! Our parents called us 'the 3 musketeers'! Even though we don't see each other as often as we would like to... we are always in close touch by phone and in our hearts!
Hopefully this summer in Norway, we can get some updated pictures...

When my parents went to heaven within one year of each other... he was the one who held everything together and closed up their home in California, while my sister and I cared for our mom in the hospital in Dallas. .. We called him, and he just stepped in and did it all! Our parents would have been so proud of their son!

I am so glad he is my brother... I love you 'Key '.... you are our one and only brother, and we are so glad God gave you to us!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

What a handsome brother! May the Lord bless him on his birthday. Wonderful memories of your youth. The pics are great! Thank you for all your love and warm comments and your prayers for me and my family. We are in a very hard place at this time and we're leaning on God.

Hugs,
Mary

This is a topic that escapes me, simply because I am an only child and have no clue what it is like to have grown up with a sibling...or to have one to lean on later in life...someone you share a history with. However, I smile as I read this because I can feel the love you have for one another. God bless you all!

How interesting that you call him "Key." I imagine there is a great more to that naming than we realize. It seems as if he's been a "key" factor in your life, and I know you are grateful for the relationship you share with your siblings. I wish I could voice the same, but my relationship with my sister is strained at best.

That Norway excursion is going to be quite something! I look forward to hearing more; you live a rich life and a rich history. Thanks for sharing it with me.

I was the big sister in the family and teased and harrassed my younger sister and brother. I feel bad about now...lol.

Happy birthday to your brother, what a blessing to have such a special bond with him. I too can't wait to hear about your upcoming trip to Norway!

Blessings

I have some funny memories of my sister and brothers as well. They do become treasures along the way.
Sonja, your brother is a very handsome man, but frankly your whole family is beautiful! Great genes!

There's something about those Norwegian genes. What a beautiful family you all make!

Sonja, here's another commonality with us. I am the middle child. My brother Steve is 18 months older than me and my sister Christine is 7 years younger.

I'm a day late in saying this but ...happy birthday to Key! (I was with Kathleen yesterday having fun.)

Hugs and much love to you,
Debbie (3rd sis)

My friend,

I was so blessed in this post. As a sister to three brothers (one older, two younger and the youngest tragically left this life too early in 1994 at the age of 23), whom I love very much I well relate to this message.

I, like Elaine, had the same thought about the name "Key" that there must be more to it than we know (smile). He definitely sounds like the KEY to holding everything together in the family and yes that would make your Mom and Dad very proud.

Love you and thank you for your continued prayers and words of life you speak via your Email messages. I love you and I'm praying for you.

Blessings and love,
Lisa

And, you have been blessed with a wonderful gift from God in your brother. A belated happy birthday to him!

How exciting that you are all going to Norway this summer!!! I look forward to hearing about your venture and seeing pictures.

Thank you for sharing your life with me. You are, dear friend, such a vibrant blessing!

Much love,

Andrea

P.S. We are still delayed in getting back into our home, but God remains faithful as always. Have a very beautiful Sunday!

Hello Sonja,

I've so enjoyed reading your post about your brother. You did a very nice tribute to him. When my brothers and I get together and my mother hears some of the "antics" from our childhood years she keeps asking, "Where was I when all of this was going on?" :)

Hope you have a wonderful week!

What a lovely post about your big brother. I'm the older sister of two girls, and so I do not know what it is like to have a big brother. Often I wish I did.

God has blessed you with a good family upbringing. What you wrote about Key is so heartwarming. May God continue to bless him, and draw him close to His heart.
