I remember mama...AGAIN...

When I was growing up, there was a tv series by that name, it reminded us of her...

We never really called her mama... we always called her mother...

It's been 9 years, and on Mother's Day... my memories of her still bring sorrow and joy...

The life she lived, the joy she shared, the mother she was.... in this world, will always leave a big hole in my heart...

What I learned about God, about life and about myself, were lessons taught to me by how she lived and who she was...

She was deeply committed to God, my dad and the 3 of us... we were her life...
She also ...

was a women's speaker at christian conferences...

baked and shared 1000's of cookies in her lifetime, for us, and to give away, by the beautiful plateful...

Lead many, many people to faith in Jesus Christ...

Prayed... and then prayed some more, and kept praying all through her life...

She was a Registered Nurse, and worked the night shift, even as she raised the 3 of us, and usually while dad was in another part of the world preaching...

She was always on the lookout for someone who might need a helping word or hand, and gave it quickly and gladly...

I think my very best memories of her were her JOY and laughter and humor, we all called her 'the fun one'...

She had it together, and she passed down to us a legacy for a lifetime! Oh how I miss her and love her!

My mom...

i sometimes detect, stem from?

Lea: I'm chuckling as I write this... that would also be from her, my brother always called her 'sparky'... she was definitely that! Also... as to 'orneriness'... probably have to admit lots of that is me being me! :)

Awww! She sounds so special! You are blessed. And may God bless you as you approach the upcoming Mother's Day and all others who no longer have their mothers here.

Sonja, you resemble your mother so much! She's beautiful.

I love that she was a nurse. :)

I love that she was a prayer warrior.

I love that she was Norwegian.

I love that she was fun.

I want to meet her when we get to heaven.

I miss my mom too. It's been five years since she went to heaven. I've had a hard time today as I got news that my mother's only brother died yesterday. I had just written my Wednesday's Walk post about his daughters. Who knew? God's timing is perfect though ...

Much love to you my sister.

Love you,
Debbie

What a fabulous legacy: joy, laughter, humor!

I sure see your resemblance to her, Sonja. I also thought of Rose Kennedy. Your mother's regal features look so much like hers.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, Sonja! I miss my mama still - it's been 8 years since her passing.

Your mom left you a spiritual heritage - just like your dad - the two of them sounds like a power-packed duo. You are one blessed daughter. Aren't we so blessed to have been raissed in a christian home?

I hope our mamas's are having tea with Jesus today. It's a great fuzzy feeling - knowing that both our mama's are in heaven together.

God bless you, friend

Dear Sonja,
I so do understand you. Love and laughter go so well together. Since I always have been a daddy's girl, I compare my love for him (he went to Jesus three years ago. I miss him every day.)
I love my mother too, we are talking and discussing every day. Funny thing is, that after she had a brain stroke, she got more relaxed, forgiving and thankful than ever before.
She's soon to be 85, and still growing in wisdom and personality. That is a wonder.
Of course I love her too, and I will not even try to imagine the day she will not be there, always reachable for all of us.

I hope the little foxes give you peace for a while now. We are about to replace 9 double glassed windows. The old ones were punctured. Like you I find it takes too much time, energy and money. I just should be thankful we can find money to pay the window maker and the carpenters. After all it's better to have the house repaired while we still are young enough to manage the strain. If we live 10 or 20 years longer, we will still have good windows, and you will have your water tank and fans.
Isn't that a blessing?
