Thy will be done... or my will??...

Oh this cartoon gets a little too personal!

Yes, I am chuckling, but also yes... I can see that stiff demanding posture in her, and it does look a little familiar.

On certain days... I KNOW that person... I don't like that I do!

I want to be completely lead and controlled by Him... it's my prayer. But I know that sometimes... I look like HER!

Thy will ... or my will???

Here are a couple of quotes to think about...

"It is always self who gets irritable and envious and resentful and critical and worried. It is self who is hard and unyielding in its attitudes to others. It is self who is shy and self-conscious and reserved...

Anything that springs from self, however small it may be, is sin. Self-energy or self-complacency in service is sin. Self-pity in trials or difficulties, self-seeking in business or Christian work, self-indulgence in one's spare time, sensitiveness, touchiness, resentment and self-defense when we are hurt or injured by others, self-consciousness, reserve, worry, fear, all spring from self and all are sin."(Roy Hession)

Jesus has some very specific things to say about this:

"Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat; I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?" (Matt.16:24)

Sometimes I'm happily reading along in God's word, and then, BAM! Like today...

A Proverbs 31 woman... that's who I want to look like... not HER!

Thank God that this picture is not the whole story! He is making me into His image, day by day...

I just tried 3X to post here! I'm ready to give up ... and you'll probably end up with all three showing up!

He's doing a great job making you into His Image! You're beautiful to Him!

The death of 'self' is one of the hardest things to grasp and live out but it is necessary for us in order to keep our relationship with God - PURE before Him!

Being made over with you!

"Oh to be like thee", what a song and that's what I want to be... to be like Him. Thanks for reminding us that we need His will, not ours!

My constant prayer is "Lord, please do in me, what I cannot do on my own".

What an awesome post! Yes I can definitely identify with this cartoon lady. I thank God that His mercies are new every morning, and that we have a lifetime, some longer than others, to learn and become more and more like Him.

AMEN, Mom!
I cannot seem to step out of my self ...
She follows me around and taps on my shoulder
and insists on being heard ... May Jesus' voice
be the only voice I turn my ear to. ... Tune my
heart to sing your grace ... Streams of mercy -
never ceasing ... Call for songs of loudest praise!
I love you, Mom! Keep on blogging, Sister,
you are pointing us to Him!

Hi Sonja!
I am sorry to say... that sometimes I forget that his will is what we really want. We think we know what is best for us and our loved ones.... but what is best is what God wants for us. Thanks for the reminder.
I wish you love, peace and blessings dear friend!

MMMMmmmm, I wonder how you got that picture of me. Wow, Sonja, aren't we all just like that at times, some more than others. We think we are being crafty and can manipulate God to do our bidding. Don't you know he must wonder at times if we will ever get it...that HE is in charge not us. Much needed reminder, thanks for posting it.

Sonja, I can easily identify with Susie in the cartoon! I pray that God's desires will become my desires. After all, He knows my heart better than I do. And He knows what's best for me.

Love you,
Debbie
