Keeping it real...

Even at the age of 4 or 5 years, our grandkids have amazed us with what they say and the way they think.

I'm thinking of a certain day a few years ago, and one of our granddaughters  was riding in the back seat all buckled up, as she and I were heading down the road.

Out of the blue this 4 or 5 year old said...

"God's faithfulness endures forever!"

I was thrilled and quickly chimed in to agree and elaborate, thinking this was a perfect spiritual teaching moment.

Before I could get more than a sentence out, she added...

"And Mimi... I know how to shake my booty!"

There you have it! Those 2 random comments, coming out of the mouth of a small child with very little pause between the statements. The tug of war that begins early and continues until the day we will see Jesus.

And yes, I had to laugh at the time, and it still makes me smile when I think of it...

Isn't this a classic example? On the one hand, she has Godly parents who are investing their lives into these girls, and instructing them daily about Jesus.

And on the other hand, tv, movies, other kids at school, magazines, etc.... are trying to win them over to the system of this world at an accelerated speed.

It's a good thing that we know who is the winner in today's world, and what the final outcome will be. In the meantime, there can't be too many prayers lifted on behalf of all of those that we love.

Good morning! Oh my goodness, what a perfect example of the constant struggle we have, and how young we are when it starts. Shows you how diligent we have to be to put the things of God in our hearts huh? Enjoy your day!

Out of the mouth of babes. What a living mini example of the 'true belivings and the real happenings' .. that is my daughters phrase (LOL).

Oh I laughed...I also thought about how fast we want to expand on the truth they are speaking when we realize that it is all mixed together at that season of their life. Yes, prayers for all generations!

This is precious!

Oh that is so cute. They do say the cutest things.
It is true, watching my kids trying to raise their kids just seems so much harder than when I was even though it was very hard for me too. We have to continue to pray for families as I think the family is very more under attack.

I am smiling - but I totally understand the tug/pull war that those two statements represent. Oh, thank the Lord that we are not forever enslaved by our sin natures. But, the enemy is afoot, and powerful. Prayer is needed like never before.

Pray, Mrs. Warrior, pray!!

GOD BLESS!

There can never be too many prayers. That's the truth. To me the worst thing has always been when I hear my own nasty words repeated from a child. The Norwegian saying "To meet oneself in the door."
The evil is eager to discourage me. I often have to ask for forgiveness and also admit, I did the wrong thing.
Funny thing is, I don't loose respect for that reason.

Well, isn't it the truth! Never thought about it but as the Word says, we are born sinners. And, the world aims to keep us that way. Great post!

Oh yes Sonja, the world has a tug on them too. But how wonderful to have godly parents who take the time to teach the little ones about Jesus. My grandparents taught me when I was a child and I still remember many of those lessons to this day. Although I was a bit of a prodigal for some years, I never forgot and how thankful I am that God is so amazingly grace filled towards us. I also believe prayers are needed for our loved ones. I wish I could openly share Jesus with the little ones in my class but I cannot. So instead I privately pray for them. :)

Love you and so glad you are back! Btw, I posted a Weigh-In Wednesday post today.

Oh my dear, I agree. As a teacher, I see the influence this world has. This is my take on what is happening:

both young and older are being infiltrated by a system that threatens our humanity. For example, I for one LOVE technology and how it can bring us all together, enhance our creative endeavors, so on. But in the hands of young people who are bombarded daily, EVEN IN OUR SCHOOLS where computers are becoming more and more the teacher, becoming desensitized to human relationship is what is worrying me. I had a ninth grade student tell me last month, as I substitute taught in his physics class, "I don't have to listen to you. You're a substitute. We all know you don't make a lot of money. I don't value people who don't make a lot of money because you are not worth much." I immediately took that as a teachable moment and we discussed this point of view as a class. That shut him up.

We are in a battle, but consistent love will win. IT WILL.

Thank you for visiting my post, AND it is so good to know you are writing again! Anita

Sonja - I have a 3-3/4 year old granddaughter and a 2-1/2 year old granddaughter and it NEVER ceases to amaze me the things they say! One moment they'll be singing songs from Sunday School and the next they want to dance to "Rumor Has It" by ???. They are presently living here with Mom while Dad is on deployment with the US Navy. I am "Mimi" too! Loved the blog - glad you are still writing! Many blessings!

OK, I laughed right smack out loud just now when I got to the booty part. What a perfect illustration, and it doesn't end until we reach glory, I think. Just like your little one, I can leap from one extreme to the other pretty quickly too.

Right now, I'm tempted to shake that booty. Anything is better than the kitchen grind.
