I've got it... cabin fever!
We have had some sort of snow, ice or drizzle for what seems like a long time. No, that isn't my house, and what we have had isn't anything like that, still...
I am getting antsy...
I know those of you in the northeast smile at us and understand that we are weather wimps. But in Texas, when snow or ice is in the forecast, the whole population heads to the grocery store and stocks up on everything comfort and cold weather related, as we batten down the hatches.
I've scrubbed counter tops, organized, even cleaned in the corners all over the place. I've also dug a little deeper into God's Word, and seen some special new truths, just meant for me to see.
There is a lesson in everything...
Many times my spirit has gotten 'antsy'...
Instead of pausing, I've dashed out of the house and filled my days with everything other than what I probably needed the most. I know God has provided times in my life to just stop and hush.
Maybe God sends snow and ice to make us be still and know that He is God...
I am always the one who wins when I spend extra time listening to what He is saying... always! So
I am thankful for these few days.
Even so, as soon as the weather breaks and the sun returns...
I will be 'out of the building'.

Sounds as if you are coping well! I love sending John to the store before a storm just to see what comes home. Ha!
Well you are like me, if we had snow or even rain, the whole city shuts down.
At least you have all of the work to show for it.
I often feel like that, it is so hard for me to sit and wait rather than being happy at the place I know God has for me.
Thanks for sharing.
Oh my I have a feeling I'd be ready to break out too, haha. Just not use to that at all. Sounds like you've been productive in EVERY way. Hope it's over soon!
Typically we are beneficiaries of mild winters her in Western WA State. We get gray, drizzly days but rarely snow. However, we had snow over the weekend & it was so beautiful. But I'm with you: spring can't come soon enough! I'm ready to witness some clear, blue skies, things growing, & kids outdoors ~ me at the head of the pack.
This fellow Texan is shouting!! AMENT!! I had come here to see how you were doing. I am just not a winter, cloudy day girl. I looked at someone today and said, "I am realizing I need sunshine!" I have really dealt with depression with all this weather. We are suppose to have sun this weekend.
But just like you...I have also been soaking in the Word and have wanted to just stay right there.
That isn't a bad place to be...in His WORD!
Love your thought that God sends the snow and
ice to make us be still.
Instead of working ourselves up into a "lather"
over it - let's turn them into Holy Days.
Appreciated the post. THANKS
Yeah, I get cabin fever too. Sometimes my hubby will run down a whole list of things, "Do you want to do this, do you want to do that?" - only for me to say no to everything. Then he'll say (in a rather exasperated voice), "Then what DO you want to do?" I usually answer, "I don't know - something."
It's a great spiritual lesson that you are bringing here. We can run off into our days with a rather frantic urge to keep busy.
We should learn the blessing in the *hush*...
GOD BLESS!
I'm with you on this one. there are blessings to be had in being slowed down (like the one's you have mentioned) but I'm ready for some warmth and sunshine.
Great perspective and I'm going to remember that tomorrow as we are supposed to be "iced in" tomorrow. We just praying that we can keep power. I get antsy very easily too, but am with you, sometimes we just need to "be still and know." Happy week!
A big old Amen from this corner. I was thinking during the last ice storm here a few weeks ago that maybe we all needed some inside time.
(But now, I AM frustrated that a very important meeting for my husband has now had to be canceled for the third time, twice for weather. I know that God is in control. I just wonder what His view is on this meeting and why.)
I think many of us are in the same boat with the winter doldrums....It really makes me appreciate the sunshine even more and wow I will be singing praises everyday when spring arrives.....I guess the test is will I sing praises now......to be thankful in whatever circumstance I find myself....
I often experience cabin fever for different reasons. I'm always grateful for outings that allow me to breathe. I especially enjoy my daily walks which serves a dual purpose - stretching my legs and decluttering my thoughts.
Here's hoping for some sunshine soon!

I'm glad you are spending your days with the Lord. Even winter days like you described can be a good time to settle down and in with Him. We've had high temps here in Phoenix. It's in the high 70's. Can you believe this weather?
Love you,
Debbie
We're at a standstill here too due to all of the snow that's fallen this week. Spring will come!
