Knee season...

Not my knee season, but my husband's. He had a right knee replacement on October 26. The surgery was the easy part. The rehab has been more difficult, but so well worth it. He injured his knee in high school football, and through the years it kept getting worse. It was definitely time.

What does this have to do with me?

Everything!

I know that people have had this surgery who live alone, and they have coped and regained their strength and knee function but... every day of this rehab both Joe and I are reminded that it has taken BOTH of us to get him back to normal. Not to mention, that during surgery, somehow... his right shoulder rotator cuff went south, they think a tendon, or the rotator itself. So rehab has been a doozie!

He is doing better every day, and so am I.

We have been reminded many times in the past couple of months that we are 'fearfully and wonderfully made, and that "when one member suffers, the whole body suffers with it."

He's definitely on the mend, and we are so thankful for the advances in medicine that have made this surgery almost routine... almost. :)

Well, it might be routine unless it's you or your loved one going through it. :o)) I know soooo many folks that have had knee replacement and they all say what you say, the rehab is the worse. But, they also say it was well worth it in the end. So, hopefully your husband will be saying that as well. Blessings for complete healing!

Praying for a full and happy recovery. It is amazing what medicine can do. And I am sure that your husband appreciates all your help and nursing care through this process.

Oh yes, rehab can be lots of fun. :( Now I know what you've been up to Sonja. I pray that Joe will have a full recovery and that you will be encouraged and energized. And the rotator cuff on top of all of this? I know a bit about this as I too have a problem with mine. I now have to sleep on one side as it bothers me at night. Hang in there my friend. I've missed you in our bloggy world. I've finally written two posts this past week and hope to continue.

Much love,
Debbie

I hope and pray the healing is accelerated, Sonja! No fun to be in so much pain so long. Hope you are still finding joy in the Christmas season which is hard to do when your other half is suffering.

We went through the same thing last March when my husband had a knee replacement. Isn't it amazing what the medical community can do today? I'm so glad your hubby's on the mend (and you, too). I thought for sure I'd thump Terry with the remote control before he was navigating again. I just know you'd never dream of doing such a thing.

Hugs,
Kathleen

Prayers for both the *patient* and the *nurse*!! I join you in being grateful for the many advances made in the medical world. The older I get, the more I appreciate knowing that many parts of my aging *chassis* can be fixed!!

Was reminded of this verse from Ecclesiastes 4:

"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other...If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble."

Particularly apropos, don't you think?! :-)

GOD BLESS!

P.S. I hope his knee get better much sooner than later. I still have a blown-out knee. So, I know what he has been enduring.
